Congratulations to Calvin & Shelley Johnson! They are Sagemeadow’s first Yard of the Month contest winner for 2022! They were selected for their timeless and traditional landscape design of balance and repetition. They received an exclusive Sagemeadow yard sign to proudly display in their yard for an entire month. They also received a $50 gift card from Home Depot. Finally, they were presented with a one-of-kind certificate worthy of framing, as a memento to be cherished.

The Johnson’s landscape begins with a well-kept lawn with raised beds that enhance the front side of the house. The shady side of the house features a hedge of dwarf yaupon holly, some azaleas and nadinas. The groundcover in front is the Asiatic jasmine, a popular plant for Houston. The crape myrtle tree will bring color to the front yard. Shelley decided not to prune it, just to let the natural shape develop. When it is blooming, it is a show-stopper, she remarked. If there is enough space, this is the right decision. A beautiful double, pink Knock-Out rose and round clipped dwarf yaupon holly draws your eyes to the sunny side of the house. Pink drift roses were planted, surrounding the letter box. Small garden statues add a nice tough of character to the home.
